The Great Comms Debate 3

The world of internal communications recently endured a major shake-up. With most of the world currently working from home, the questions on every internal communicators mind are:

“How can I have the most impact right now?”
“What does the world of IC look post-Corona?”
“How do I know if I'm doing enough?”

One thing is for sure. IC has taken center stage and the actions taken by the IC community today will shape the future of the profession.

THIS CALLED FOR ANOTHER GREAT COMMS DEBATE.

This time, we brought 3 new comms experts in for our quarterly debate:

  • Jill Christensen, Founder & Best-Selling Author @ Jill Christensen International
  • Alison Davis, Founder & CEO @ Davis & Company
  • Roland Burton, Director @ Comms & Effect

Just like with the previous Comms Debates, we went with an ‘Agree or Disagree’ format. We posed the statement and the experts talked it out until we got some answers.

💡 Whether you’re new to communications or a seasoned veteran, this session should give you plenty of insights to take back with you as you work towards enhancing your communications in this time of crisis.

Time stamps:

00:05:45 – The COVID-19 crisis has changed everything, including the purpose of internal communication

00:18:45 – COVID-19 has (again) shown the power of stories… but IC is still bad at using them

00:28:45 – Internal comms professionals need to challenge the C-Suite when they do not want to communicate openly, honestly, and transparently

00:39:25 – While some internal communicators are using metrics, most still aren’t effectively measuring their efforts.

00:47:50 – Internal Comms, PR, marketing and Customer Service would work far more effectively if they were all one Communications team

00:54:45 – Face-to-face has - and always will be - the most effective form of communication
